The Lone Star College-Tomball Academy for Lifelong Learning Fall Open House will be held in the Elmer L. Beckendorf Conference Center on Thursday, August 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. LSC-University Park will also host an ALL open house on Thursday, August 26, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Building 13, third floor, CE lobby.
The open house is an opportunity for 50+ age individuals to meet others with common interests and to preview the fall 2010 ALL course offerings. One can also register to become a member of the Academy for Lifelong Learning (program. As a member, you can help decide what is offered, volunteer to teach a course or help arrange field trips.
"Here at LSC-Tomball/UP we have a very active and exciting ALL program,” said Dr. Christina Hinkson, Lone Star College System Executive Director of Continuing Education. “Through the varied educational adventures we offer, these courses allow for many of our community members to enjoy the advantages of lifelong learning."
The ALL program offers non-credit courses, lectures and social activities for continued intellectual and personal growth. The curriculum offers a range of instruction from Conversational Spanish to Tai Chi to Genealogy, depending upon the interest of the members.
Annual memberships start at $20. Members can register for as many courses in the ALL program as they like both at Lone Star College-Tomball and Lone Star College-University Park.
There are no educational requirements. Some courses may require a separate supply, workbook or entry fee. Information on additional fees will be listed in the course schedule.
As an additional bonus, ALL members can also many LSC-Tomball services, such as the Harris County Public Library, free wireless internet access, the Wellness Center and other campus activities.
The ALL program began 10 years ago at LSC-Montgomery. It has since grown to all five LSCS colleges.
