Lone Star College-North Harris is giving new meaning to “the dog days of summer” thanks to the Dog Grooming Assistant course offered through the college’s continuing education program. With Americans spending as much as $41 billion a year on their pets, it’s no surprise there is a need for properly trained providers of pet-related services.
Designed for the person with little or no experience in the field, the Dog Grooming Assistant course provides introductory instruction on topics including safety and sanitation, dog restraint, bathing, and nail trimming. The class will also include hands-on application of skills and techniques at a local dog grooming salon.
Two sections of the six-week course will be held this summer. Classes are held on Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:20 p.m. The first section begins June 7. The second starts July 21.
Those interested may register online at LoneStar.edu/CE or by phone at 281.618.5634. Lone Star College continuing education schedules are available at any Lone Star College location.
