How can high school students get a jump start on their college education this summer? Sign up for Dual Credit summer sessions at Lone Star College-CyFair and LSC-Fairbanks Center.
High school juniors and seniors can experience college life while they earn high school and college credit in classes, such as English, biology, math, history, psychology, economics, speech and more. The classes are transferable to most public institutions in the state of Texas. In addition, students will have access to the campus computer labs, workout facilities and student services, such as free tutoring.
“I took advantage of dual credit and I really got ahead in high school,” said Kelly Serrano, an engineering student. “I saved time and money. I knew college would be more expensive, but while in high school, it was cheaper. I started LSC-CyFair with 27 credits, so even though it’s my first year, I’m pretty close to getting my associate’s and ready to transfer.”
Tuition is free, though some fees do apply. However, fee scholarships and textbook scholarships are available. This is a savings of $114 for each 3-hour class.
Dual Credit courses are available during two summer sessions at LSC-CyFair including Summer 1 from June 7 through July 13 and Summer 2 from July 15 through Aug. 19.
