Asian Student Association for Progress (ASAP) at LSC-North Harris celebrates Asia Pacific Islander Heritage 2010
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is celebrated in May to commemorate the contributions of people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent in the United States. In 1978, Congress passed a Resolution to commemorate Asian American Heritage Week during the first week of May. However, due to end of semester scheduling conflicts, Lone Star College-North Harris students will be observing Asian Pacific American Heritage a little earlier. All events are free and open to the community.
April 14:
Speak Up, Speak Out Forum:
Local Asian American Community and campus leaders will engage in small and large group interactive discussions with students on Asian culture and issues. Refreshments and drinks will be provided.
The Wednesday event is from 1 to 9 p.m.
April 28:
Many Beats, One Sound Celebration: A festival celebrating Asia and Asian American Heritage.
Festivities will include: exhibition, artwork, cultural dances, musical performances, Asian food tasting, and Asian cultural booths.
