A brightly inventive comedy for mature audiences only “The Wager” is on stage April 15 through April 25 at Lone Star College-CyFair.
“The Wager” is a bubbling comedy laced with wit and revealing insights into the lives of four colorful characters in a college environment. Leeds, a brainy, tart-tongued graduate student, has bet Ward, a physical education major, that he can seduce Honor, the wife of a young college professor. But Leeds has also wagered that if Ward is successful, Ron will make an attempt on his life! The situation grows progressively more complex, with fun and fear brilliantly juxtaposed.
Claire Hart-Palumbo directs this play by Mark Medoff, who won a Tony Award for “Children of a Lesser God.” The cast includes Genevieve Simmons and Kenton Schwenke, LSC-CyFair theatre students; Cody Swiger, former LSC-Cy-Fair student and current theatre major at Sam Houston State University and Chris Kennedy, theatre arts teacher at Cy-Woods High School.
