Free Preview & Live Entertainment on April 21
Lone Star College-Montgomery invites you to the college’s spring theatre production of The Miss Firecracker Contest, a comedy by Beth Henley. The performance kicks off on Wednesday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m., with a free preview showing. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for live entertainment, refreshments, and a chance to walk through the Mary Matteson-Parrish Art Gallery to enjoy, An Artist’s Journey, a commemorative exhibit currently on display.
This comedy performance will run for one weekend only—Thursday through Saturday, April 22-24, with shows starting at 7:30 p.m. A single matinee performance will take place on Saturday, April 24, at 2 p.m.
The Miss Firecracker Contest is set in a small town in Mississippi during the July 4th town fair. Carnelle, the protagonist, is preparing to enter The Miss Firecracker beauty contest in hopes of erasing her tarnished past and starting a new future. The story speaks to what is true happiness and real beauty.
Cast members include Taylor Thomas, Nicole Thoma, Jenny Hardy, Joshua Costea, Weston Simpson, and Katherine Daniel.
"The Miss Firecracker Contest is a delightful crowd pleaser,” said Chase Waites, director for the production and theatre professor at LSC-Montgomery. “We have put together a great combination of familiar faces and brand new participants and expect that this talented cast and crew will put together a hilarious and heartfelt performance.”
Individual tickets for this performance are $10 (general admission), $7 (seniors), and $5 (students).

The LSC-Montgomery theatre department and http://www.mycommunitytickets.com/ have partnered to increase scholarship funding for theatre students and provide patrons with a convenient way to purchase tickets for the production. Patrons are guaranteed a ticket when purchased online, and all ticket contributions through the site support the scholarship fund for the theatre program.
Patrons can also purchase tickets one hour before the performance at the box office located in Building D.
