Brandi Ziegler, a student at Lone Star College-Montgomery, dons a pair of virtual reality goggles and slips behind the wheel of a DUI simulator to experience first-hand the effects of drinking and driving. The simulator, which is an actual car, uses virtual reality software and a computer-controlled road simulator ramp to provide students an interactive way to navigate through real-road driving conditions while seemingly under the influence of alcohol.
The college’s Psychology Club and Psi Beta arranged to have P.E.E.R.S. Awareness bring in the simulator. P.E.E.R.S. Awareness stands for Professionals Encouraging Education Reform Statewide.
