Lone Star College-Montgomery’s 13th annual community-wide wellness expo and job fair, Healthier U, is seeking sponsors, booth exhibitors—and now golfers—for the three-day scholarship-generating event that takes place April 7-9, 2010. Proceeds generated from Healthier U go toward scholarships that benefit students in health-related and other academic programs at LSC-Montgomery.
The Healthier U event activities include educational and interactive booths, a heart-healthy cook-off, a multimedia sale, free preventive health screenings, a silent auction and more. However, for the first time, Healthier U will also include a golf tournament, held at River Plantation Country Club on Friday, April 9.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to raise additional scholarship funds for students through Healthier U’s inaugural golf tournament,” said Mary Hoff, Healthier U coordinator. “Whether businesses or organizations choose to sponsor a booth at the wellness expo, a hole at the golf tournament, or a team in the tournament, their investment will provide significant financial support to a number of college students.”
According to Hoff, in 2009, Healthier U raised more than $23,000 for 33 scholarships for students in health-related and other academic fields.
“Some of the very same students who have received past Healthier U scholarships are now employed by healthcare providers in our area,” said Hoff. “Every sponsorship is helping students who, in turn, will end up helping our community.”
Those interested in being a sponsor of the golf tournament, which is separate from being a wellness expo sponsor, have several sponsorship options: Golf Only (team of four, $300); Scholarship Sponsor ($250); and Scholarship Hole Sponsor ($500).
The Golf Only sponsorship includes a round of golf, lunch, and a t-shirt for four people. The Scholarship Sponsor includes the sponsor’s name on the Healthier U event t-shirt, and the Scholarship Hole Sponsor includes the sponsor’s name on the Healthier U event t-shirt and on signage at a hole on the golf course. The Scholarship and Scholarship Hole Sponsor levels do not include golf.
The deadline for the Scholarship and Scholarship Hole Sponsor opportunity is February 28. The deadline to register as a Golf Only sponsor is March 31.
Complete golf tournament details, as well as the registration form, can be found at www.lonestar.edu/healthierU.
