Four Lone Star College-Tomball professors have been awarded sabbatical leave for the 2010-2011.

Sabbatical leave is a professional growth opportunity designed to increase the value of the recipient’s sustained contribution to the Lone Star College System. Eligible employees submit their proposal for review by a system wide committee which makes recommendations to the chancellor for approval.

Tomball’s recipients and their proposals for sabbatical are:

·         David Birch, political science professor: A research project linked to federalism and intergovernmental relations and to policy community interaction.

·         Melissa Kirkpatrick, English professor LSC-University Park: to create a special topics course on Literature of the Journey and to create related presentations

·         Nancy Kral, political science professor: To travel to Washington, DC and to Austin to recreate the Government 2302 course

·         Rebecca Tate, English: Through research and study, to increase knowledge and understanding of the non-western, ancient world cultures in order to revise English and humanities courses.
