Unable to register for the standard, 16-week spring semester? No problem! Register for a ‘Second Start’ course at Lone Star College-Montgomery, a great option for students needing flexibility in their class schedule.
 
Second Start courses, which each last anywhere from three to 14 weeks, have start dates beginning in late January all the way through late March. Although the traditional, 16-week spring semester for LSC-Montgomery begins January 19, Second Start courses offer students the ability to register up to the first day of each class. Class work is completed by May or earlier, depending on the particular course.
 
“This is a great opportunity for those who can’t begin the semester in the typical fashion,” said Dr. Julie Leidig, vice president of instruction at LSC-Montgomery. “Many people can’t fit in a 16-week course, and Second Start courses provide a convenient alternative.”
 
More than 100 Second Start classes are offered this spring in more than 20 different program areas, including evening, weekend, and hybrid courses.  Hybrid courses replace some of the classroom instruction with media-enhanced online learning, greatly reducing the amount of time spent on campus.
 
Just like the traditional 16-week courses, Second Start offerings are designed to help students achieve academic goals set toward workforce certificates, associate’s degrees, or university transfer.
