The Lone Star College-North Harris division of continuing education phlebotomy technician certification program is currently accepting applications for the spring 2010 term.
A phlebotomy technician is an integral member of the medical laboratory team whose primary function is the collection of blood samples from patients by venipuncture. The phlebotomy technician facilitates the collection and transportation of laboratory specimens and is often the patients only contact with the medical laboratory.
The program consists of two courses: Phlebotomy Theory and Phlebotomy Clinical and begins Jan. 25 through Mar. 22. The courses cost is $489 and $609 respectively. Students will also be required to pay a $10 insurance fee for students enrolled in low risk health specialties. All students in the program must have completed Hepatitis B series by the first day of class and be subject to a background check.
