The 16th annual Lone Star College Foundation Golf Tournament will be held Monday, Oct. 26 at The Woodlands Country Club Palmer Course.
The shamble-style tournament begins at 11 a.m. with registration, practice and lunch, courtesy of Abby’s Catering, followed by a shotgun start at noon. Hole-in-one prizes, hole contests and door prizes will be featured throughout the day and the tournament will be rounded out with an awards ceremony and dinner at 5 p.m.
“There are still spots available,” said Darcy Mingoia, executive director of the Lone Star College Foundation. “This tournament is another way to support the foundation and help us change the lives of so many students in this community.”
Support for the LSC Foundation is an investment that changes the lives of students and enriches the community. Participation in the golf tournament generates scholarship funds, which allows students to attend college and gain the skills necessary for success in the workplace.
Top sponsors for the tournament are Administaff and the Caldwell Companies, Masters Level; Oceaneering International, Dinner Underwriter; and NWN Corporation, Classic Level. Sponsorships and individual playing spots are still available. Mingoia pointed out that tournament sponsorships start at $1,500 and include a foursome, a Foundation scholarship awarded in the sponsor’s name, premium golf shirts for each player, a sponsor tee sign and recognition on all course signage.
This year golfers will play a shamble format, which is slightly different than a scramble-type tournament. In a shamble, every player hits from the tee, the best tee shot is selected and each player then holes out from the selected tee shot.
