Lone Star College System will begin offering an Entrepreneurial Certificate Program in Oct. to jumpstart people’s dreams of becoming business owners.
“Working for yourself can help to keep you in control of your career destiny and for many fulfill a lifelong dream,” said Sal Mira, LSCS Small Business Development Center director.
Certificate Program presenters will include SBDC consultants, but will also feature many local professionals including bankers, attorneys, CPP’s and prominent entrepreneurial experts. One such is Dan Elliott of Sunbelt Business Brokers of Texas which provides buyers and sellers with professional services and the highest commitment to integrity.
Elliott is a Certified Business Intermediary designated by the International Business Brokers Association. He is a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers, International Business Brokers Association and the M & A Source (a national organization of Merger and Acquisition specialists). With over ten years experience in mergers, acquisitions and business sales, Elliott is experienced in representing companies with revenue up to $50,000,000.
When asked why he chose to participate in the LSCS Entrepreneurial Program Elliott answered, “Helping those who want to own their own business is good for everyone.”
“My hope is that students will take away practical knowledge on how to find a business to buy, get through the price negations and get ideas on due diligence and issues related to closing the purchase. There aren’t any shortcuts but through preparation, skillful execution and swift action you will be rewarded,” added Elliott.
Consisting of 40 hours - eight hours a week over five weeks - the Entrepreneurial Certificate Program is a prudent investment and is recommended for anyone thinking about starting, buying or growing their own business. Classes begin next month at a campus near you. The schedule, including course descriptions, times and locations, is posted at http://www.lonestar.edu/sbdc.
