From Junk to Art: "American Pie Holes" Exhibition at LSC-CyFair Feb. 27-April 10

Don't miss this thought-provoking “re-arts” experience on display in the Bosque Gallery.

Don’t miss visiting artist Robert Dohrmann’s “American Pie Holes” exhibition, a thought-provoking “re-arts” experience, displayed Feb. 27 - April 10 at Lone Star College-CyFair.

This Bosque Gallery show features a collection of Dohrmann’s unique effort to give consumer goods – such as large romantic cardboard print paintings, shadow box clocks, unlistenable LP records and a variety of found objects - new life. He uses the process of cultural anthropology (picking through thrift stores) to find objects at junk and antique stores, which to him are “museums where affordable consumer goods go to die and hopefully be reborn.”

Dohrmann’s artistry shines a light on American consumer history, pointing to current relationships to concerning topics such as middle/upper class consumerism, low-cost mass production, unmonitored capitalistic greed and climate concerns, to name a few.

Meet the artist to further discuss what inspires his artwork at the Feb. 27 opening reception and at a Library Art Talk April 10.

Save the date April 24 for the opening reception, awards ceremony and a  unique fashion show of wearable art creations by LSC-CyFair’s design students in LSC-CyFair’s end-of-the-semester Student Art Showcase, a collection of original student artistry on display April 22 – May 2.
