Come witness and support incredible performances this spring at Lone Star College-CyFair’s Center for the Arts, a vibrant artistic hub for community entertainment which talented actors, vocalists and musicians share their passions.
“You don’t want to miss the immense artistry of our students, faculty and visiting performers, showcased in a myriad of amazing shows sure to impress,” said Joshua Estrada, Fine Arts Coordinator.
The performing arts lineup includes the Main Stage Theatre production of “Moon Over Buffalo”, Feb. 27- March 8, a madcap comedy about a failed Broadway couple on the brink of a disastrous split-up and their last chance at stardom when everything that could go wrong does go wrong. In LSC-CyFair’s Black Box Theatre, audiences will enjoy the showcasing of new works from emerging student playwrights in the “New Play Festival”, Feb. 13-15 as well as a musical about two struggling playwrights attempting to write a brand-new show for a festival in only three weeks, [title of show], April 3-12.
In addition, the Music Department has multiple Main Stage Theatre evenings of choral and instrumental concerts in the works March through May as well as Fine Arts Showcase afternoons with all things visual and performing arts featuring the talented drama, music, art and creative writing students.
Community members can make a difference to help make dreams come true for students beyond being in the audience through the college’s Society for the Arts, which helps fund program activities, performance sponsorships and scholarships.
Last spring Cheryl LeJune and Mark Darby, longtime donors and supporters of LSC-CyFair and the Society for the Arts, chose to sponsor the production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical.”
“Both of us are engineers by profession, and not really artistic, so we really appreciate seeing the products of all the hard work as the students act, sing, play instruments, paint and sculpt,” said LeJune. “Watching the joy on the students' faces as they come off stage after a music or theatrical performance is contagious.”
Among the benefits of being an LSC-CyFair show sponsor are a private meeting with the cast, backstage tours, reserved seats and more. To become a patron of the arts, go to LoneStar.edu/society-for-arts. Email Joshua.Estrada@LoneStar.edu to inquire about performance sponsorship opportunities.
