Lone Star College offers lifelong learning opportunities

LSC hosts ALL Open House events
Lone Star College Academy for Lifelong Learning will showcase its offerings at various Open House events this month. Visit LoneStar.edu/ALL for more information.

Staying active, learning new skills and making friends are just three benefits people aged 50 and older can gain through the Lone Star College Academy for Lifelong Learning (ALL) Program. Those interested in the program can attend an upcoming open house event.

“The Academy for Lifelong Learning offers free and low-cost classes for senior community members to explore new skills and hobbies, learn essential information and engage in social interaction,” said Natalie Abundiz, LSC-North Harris director, Workforce Success. “ALL shows that learning truly can last a lifetime.”

At the ALL Open House, attendees will meet instructors, learn about upcoming courses and interact with current members. Additionally, ALL coordinators will be on-site to answer questions and help with the registration process. The ALL Spring 2025 Open Houses will occur at the following campuses.

  1. LSC-Montgomery: Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1-3 p.m.
  2. LSC-CyFair: Thursday, Jan. 9, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  3. LSC-Houston North: Friday, Jan. 10, 10 a.m.- noon
  4. LSC-Kingwood: Friday, Jan. 10, 1-3 p.m.
  5. LSC-North Harris: Saturday, Jan. 11, 9:30 a.m.- noon
  6. LSC-Tomball: Wednesday, Jan. 29, 10 a.m.- noon

“I don’t know of a better program anywhere else. I have been a part of the ALL Program since 2013,” said Charlotte Ward, LSC-Montgomery ALL member. “I have learned so many new things and made new friends. We all have reached or will reach an age where it is important to keep our minds activated. This program satisfies this need.”

The LSC Academy for Lifelong Learning Program offers over 100 classes like arts and crafts, computer and technology, culinary arts, financial and legal planning, gardening, health and wellness, history, languages, movies, music and theater, safety, senior issues and travel to enhance lives.

“Our classes are short-term, non-credit, and last from a few hours to several weeks,” said Pat Chandler, LSC-Kingwood director, Workforce Success. “Offerings are taught by professionals from the community, many who teach at our campuses, including ALL members, who simply have interesting skills or hobbies they want to share with others.”

ALL Annual membership (Sept. 1-Aug. 31) is $25 for access to all programming. Learn more at LoneStar.edu/ALL.
