LSC-University Park Celebrates Student Leadership and Excellence at NSLS Ceremony

HOUSTON (DEC. 19, 2024) – Lone Star College-University Park (LSC-University Park) welcomed its third cohort of students into the prestigious National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). During a Dec. 2 induction ceremony, 78 students were honored for their dedication to academic excellence and leadership development.

The NSLS, a student-run organization, is dedicated to fostering personal and professional growth while recognizing and nurturing leadership potential. With over 700 chapters and 1.4 million members nationwide, it provides students with invaluable opportunities to develop essential skills and prepare for future success.

Harpreet Kaur Goraya, President of the LSC-University Park NSLS Chapter, emphasized the significance of the induction: "This ceremony highlights the dedication and hard work of our members. True leadership involves inspiring and serving others. We are committed to cultivating informed and empowered leaders who will make a positive difference in their communities."

Matthew Dempsey, Ed.D., President of LSC-University Park, addressed the inductees, urging them to set ambitious goals for their future endeavors.

The ceremony also provided an opportunity for NSLS members to express gratitude to faculty and staff who have significantly impacted their academic journey. Faculty and staff honorees included: Bobbi Shorter, Bryce Johnson, Catherine Dumond, Elora Molloy, Gloria Mazula, Lorainne Lopez, Luisa De Leon, Mario Juliangarza, and Maurica Vickerson.
