Lone Star College is thrilled to celebrate a year of remarkable achievement, capped off by the resounding success of its community outreach efforts at the 2024 CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow. With preliminary attendance numbers soaring to nearly 130,000 over the weekend of October 25–27, the event solidified its place as one of the most highly anticipated airshows in the world. Visitors from 47 states and 39 countries flocked to Ellington Airport, reflecting the event’s global appeal.
As a proud community partner, LSC-Conroe Center's Professional Pilot Program Pilot Students and LSC staff connected with prospective students, parents, and workforce partners during the event. This year, the college's outreach initiatives spotlighted educational and workforce opportunities tailored to meet the needs of the aviation and aerospace industries, which continue to thrive in the Houston and Surrounding South Texas region.
"Our participation in the Wings Over Houston Airshow is a testament to the power of partnership and community engagement," said Suzanne Moree, Marketing Coordinator for Lone Star College-Montgomery. "By meeting prospective students and their families where they are, we’re helping pave the way for future generations to succeed in high-demand industries."
This year’s airshow dazzled audiences with unforgettable performances by: The U.S. Navy Blue Angels Demonstration Team, USAF F-16 Viper Demo, C-17 Globemaster III and USAF KC-46A Pegasus, Historic aircraft, including the F-100 Super Sabre and the B-25 Mitchell "Doolittle Raiders" edition from the Lone Star Flight Museum. The attendees also enjoyed static displays and interactive exhibits showcasing aviation history and cutting-edge technology.
Lone Star College's outreach booth welcomed thousands of visitors, sharing information on programs ranging from dual credit opportunities for high school students to specialized training in workforce fields. The event culminated a year of unprecedented engagement, with outreach efforts touching the lives of countless families across the region.
