Three Lone Star College System (the “College”) Trustee positions are on the November 5, 2024, ballot: District 1, District 2, and District 8. One candidate filed for District 8. Multiple candidates filed in Districts 1 and 2.

The College recently learned of a possible error in ballots distributed to Harris County voters. Instead of each District race appearing on only the ballots for that District, all Harris County voters within the Lone Star College System will have all 3 Districts on their ballot.

The College immediately alerted Harris County and the Secretary of State. Since mail ballots are already going out, it appears too late for correction. Therefore, the election will proceed with the ballots as is. Some College voters may be able to vote for candidates for Trustee positions in Districts other than the one in which they reside.

The College is continuing to learn more. As of this writing, the College plans on requesting all legally available data from the Harris County Clerk following the election to evaluate whether the true outcome of the election can be determined (the winner of the majority of votes of eligible voters). If the data does not provide the College with the true outcome of the election, the College will seek court guidance as regards a possible new election.
