Texas State Representative Armando Walle and Lone Star College Board of Trustees Member Myriam SaldÍvar stopped by the LSC-Kingwood campus to get a personal tour of the state-of-the-art Health Professions Building last week.

Campus President Dr. Melissa Gonzalez and other faculty and staff joined the two on Thursday, September 12th, as they got a first-hand look at the various programs and facilities in the building, which include Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Respiratory Care, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy.

“I wanted to see for myself that the work that we do in the legislature matters,” remarked Rep. Walle. “The work that ISD’s do matter. The work that public education does matters. Because those are the training grounds for the students who come here.”

Ms. Saldivar said she was impressed with the facility. “I think this health care facility is one of a kind and I think it sort of helps initiate our students to stay in the field and make good practice of it. It’s really nice.”

The Health Care Professions building houses general classrooms as well as labs with simulation rooms, virtual labs, hospital beds, medical surgical areas, and more.

“Each of those professions, those persons that graduate, it’s such a fulfilling occupation for them,” shared Rep. Walle. “It’s a proud moment for those families when they walk across the stage and get their certifications, or they get their nursing degree. So they can provide a livable wage for them and their families and be good, productive citizens.”
