In today’s fast-paced world, life commitments leave people little time for professional or personal growth. The Next Start classes at Lone Star College are designed to offer students quality educational opportunities at an accelerated pace.
“Lone Star College Next Start ensures students can earn a college education that will get them closer to their academic or career goals while balancing family and job obligations,” said Christina Hagerty, Ed.D., LSC interim chief academic officer.
The LSC fall semester is underway, but students still have time to enroll in Next Start classes that range from five to 14-week sessions. Available programs will put them on the path toward earning bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, workforce and continuing education certificates or transfer credits to most four-year universities.
“Lone Star College has done more for me than provide a route to academic success; it has painstakingly built a bridge toward my personal and professional development,” said Jolie Tran, LSC-North Harris student. “Lone Star College has been more than just a place for me to get a degree; it has been a driving force that has helped propelled toward a future where I can combine my intelligence and compassion to benefit the world.”
Students who struggle with life and education commitments can access LSC CARE for Completion. The comprehensive program provides food, housing, clothing, employment, mental health and academic support resources.
“Lone Star College understands that when students face life-challenging burdens like food insecurity or unstable housing, it hinders their success in the classroom,” said Quentin Wright, Ed.D., LSC-Houston North president. “Lone Star College CARE for Completion aims to help minimize those challenges by offering free resources so students can remain in class and receive the instruction that will monumentally change their lives.”
