Office of College Relations provides snacks & supplies for students fall semester

When Lone Star College-Kingwood students arrived on campus for the first day of Fall 2024 classes, they were welcomed with not only friendly faces but also, for the first time, free snacks and school supplies.

The Office of College Relations provided eight stations in various locations around the campus where students could pick up free snacks, supplies, and receive assistance in finding their classes.

“The success of our Fall 2024 Student Welcoming was due to the fantastic support from our campus community,” said College Relations Director Armando Galván Cruces. “The welcoming stations created a warm atmosphere that set a positive tone for the semester. The students' enthusiastic responses highlight the impact of our collective effort and commitment in making LSC-Kingwood a welcoming place for all.”

Students told us they appreciated the gesture, and said it was a pleasant start to their day.

"As a returning LSC Kingwood student, it was refreshing to have staff members outside helping lost students figure out where their classes are,” said Tiffany Kinser, an Associate of Arts student. “When I first attended LSC at another campus I was very lost and late to my classes because I could not find the building or room. I am also grateful that they had water and snacks because I forgot my breakfast at home."

College Relations hopes to continue with this welcoming initiative for future semesters.
