In June, the Lone Star College-Montgomery Theater Department proudly showcased its summer production of The Ghost of Splinter Cove, This thrilling and captivating performance has garnered notable recognition from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) Region 6.
Among the honors awarded, we are thrilled to announce that our talented student actors, Faith Davis, and Marcellos Anderson, have been nominated for the esteemed Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship. This accolade celebrates exceptional performance skills and potential in the theatrical arts while offering recognition, honor, and financial support to exceptional student performers seeking to continue their education.
Additionally, we are delighted to recognize the outstanding contributions of the creative team, who received Meritorious Achievement awards for their exceptional work in various disciplines:
- Victoria Jimenez - Scenic Design
- Dominic Calandra - Lighting Design
- Kate Smelser - Stage Management
- Steven Mata - Sound Engineering
These awards highlight the hard work, dedication, and talent of our Theatre department, showcasing the quality of artistic expression present in their production of The Ghost of Splinter Cove.
As a significant highlight, the production has also been considered for the KCACTF Region 6 Conference, taking place in Abilene this coming February. The Theatre Department eagerly awaits the results in December, hoping to be among the six shows selected to represent their region at this event!
"This production was beautifully designed and performed by a group of dedicated students. The care and heart they showed while creating this work was apparent in everything they did," said Chase Waite the Director and Professor of theatre at Lone Star College-Montgomery.
