Looking to start a career in healthcare or home health? Lone Star College-Kingwood is offering a fast-track program to get you started.
The Certified Nurse Aide Program is expected to start in September. Day classes are available and consist of a 64-hour lecture/lab followed by a 44-hour clinical at an approved long-term care facility.
“We are excited to meet the needs of students who want to start their career as a CNA and work in a variety of healthcare settings”, said Gail Smith, Continuing Education Coordinator for Kingwood Health Science Programs. “Being a Certified Nurse Aide is also a gateway to those who really want to serve in healthcare or move on to become Medical Assistants, LVN’s or RNs.”
DeLisa Sumpter is an LVN and a fulltime CNA instructor and clinical liaison at LSC-Kingwood, where she completed the LVN program. “The CNA program is a steppingstone into the healthcare field. It also opens the door for greater opportunities and advancement in healthcare,” she shared.
The next CNA class starts September 10th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday. If there is enough interest, an evening class could be added. Financial Aid and grant-funding are also available for those who qualify.
