LSC named best employer for women
Forbes and Statista, a market research company, named Lone Star College as one of “America’s Best Employers for Women 2024.”

Lone Star College respects, supports and offers all employees career opportunities that develop their professional talents and provide LSC students with a top-tier educational experience. The college’s commitment to employees landed it on Forbes’s “America’s Best Employers for Women 2024” list.

“Lone Star College is proud to hire, support and recognize the talented employees who are stellar role models for our students and other colleagues,” said Patricia Woods, LSC senior associate vice chancellor, Human Resources. “Being recognized on Forbes’s ‘America’s Best Employers for Women 2024’ list is a testament to the equitable environment Lone Star College fosters for all employees and students.”

Forbes and Statista, a market research company, compiled the “America’s Best Employers for Women 2024” based on independent survey responses from over 150,000 women working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the U.S. from all industry sectors. LSC ranked 168th out of 600 companies, topping four-year universities such as Duke, Princeton and Syracuse.

“Lone Star College recruits talented, professional and compassionate faculty and staff who positively contribute to a thriving academic environment, forging a strong path for students and employees toward brighter futures,” said Woods.

LSC employs nearly 7,000 employees (60% are women) working in faculty, staff and administrative roles. College employees launched an American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) Chapter to further support and assist women in their professional goals.

“AAWCC’s mission is to change women’s lives through education, service and leadership development, but doing it the Lone Star College way,” said Jerica Nickerson, Ed.D., LSC-CyFair interim vice president, Instruction and AAWCC chapter president.

Lone Star College’s local chapter provides female and male colleagues who support women with opportunities to participate in AAWCC activities at the regional and national levels. Membership dues will fund tuition and fees for female students and professional development opportunities for female employees.

Lone Star College enrolls over 80,000 students each semester providing high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training education. LSC is training tomorrow’s workforce today and redefining the community college experience to support student success. Mario K.
