Lone Star College and Univision Houston have partnered again to offer the Tu Camino Scholarship to help one adult student earn a college education. The Tu Camino, Spanish for “your way,” program will pay for tuition, books and fees valued up to $15,000 and help navigate the enrollment process at LSC.
"Lone Star College and Lone Star College Foundation are excited to work with Univision Houston to help a student successfully start and complete their academic journey with us,” said Nicole Robinson Gauthier, CFRE, LSC Foundation executive director.
LSC and Univision Houston’s Tu Camino Scholarship program is open to adults with a high school diploma or GED and live in designated areas that receive Univision’s broadcast channel. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay on “How A Lone Star College Scholarship will Enhance My Career Path or Pursue a Career Shift.” Other eligibility requirements include having a 2.5 GPA from high school or previous college experience, being bilingual and meeting LSC’s admissions criteria. The deadline to submit the essay is Friday, Aug. 23.
“The Tu Camino Scholarship program is open to Latino adults in the Houston area interested in pursuing a higher education starting at Lone Star College to earn a degree or certificate that will enhance their employment opportunities,” said Glenn L. Coleman, Univision Houston president and general manager.
Lone Star College and Univision Houston launched the Tu Camino Scholarship program in fall 2023, garnering over 200 applicants. Essays will be judged on creativity and why the writer would benefit from attending Lone Star College. Visit BecaTuCamino.com for more information.
