Lone Star College-North Harris Recognizes Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award Winners

Every year, Lone Star College-North Harris College selects and honors outstanding instructors from among more than 340part-time faculty members. The three exceptional awardees for the 2009 Adjunct Teacher ExcellenceAward were Jane Ryan, biology; Jennifer Briggs, emergency medical services; and Darin Baskin, psychology. The honorees each received $300 and will be recognized at an adjunct workshop in August.
Adjunct faculty members bring valuable knowledge, industry experience, and diversity to the classroom. Many instructors have full-time jobs elsewhere or are retired professionals. They choose to teach because they want to interact with students and help direct the future of their careers.
