This summer, Lone Star College-North Harris will once again offer an All-State Summer Choir Camp in partnership with the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) July 6 through 9.
The All-State Summer Choir Camp is an intense session designed to prepare high school students for next year's Texas All-State Choir auditions. The four-day session features full choir rehearsals, sectionals, vocal techniques, and diction study using the required TMEA music for next fall's all-state auditions. Camp director and clinician will be Dr. Dave Faber, LSC-North Harris's professor of choral music. In addition, music instructors from area high schools will be teaching-providing a very high teacher to student ratio for this camp. The camp schedule is Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon. The camp ends with a full choir concert in the college's performing arts theater.
Dr. Dave Faber is completing his 13th year as professor of choral music and voice at LSC-North Harris. He holds a doctorate in music education and voice from West Virginia University. Previous appointments include public schools, colleges, and universities in Georgia, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia. Dr. Faber and his choirs have presented numerous sessions at state, regional, and national conventions for the Texas, Georgia, and West Virginia Music Educators Associations, the American Choral Directors Association, and the National Association for Teachers of Singing.
The camp fee is $79 and registration is through LSC-North Harris's corporate and continuing education division. To enroll, call 281.618.5602 or for more information, contact Dr. Faber at 281.618.5648 or e-mail Dave.Faber@lonestar.edu.
