Lone Star College-Online selected as Bellwether Award finalist

LSC-Online & Bellwether finalist
Lone Star College-Online was selected as a Bellwether Award finalist in the category of Planning, Governance, and Finance.

Lone Star College-Online was selected as a Bellwether Award finalist in the category of Planning, Governance, and Finance for the creation and recent successes of the LSC-Online campus launch. This prestigious, nationally recognized award is bestowed upon community colleges who have created innovative programs worthy of replication. LSC-Online submitted their work as one of a large pool of submissions and was selected as one of 10 finalists in their category.

“We are honored to have been recognized for our work in building an online campus that offers a truly accessible option for the fully online learner,” said Seelpa Keshvala, Ph.D., executive vice chancellor & CEO, LSC-Online. “Student success was our goal throughout the online campus’s creation and being able to showcase the faculty and staff’s amazing work on such a prestigious stage means we’re really doing something great here.”

The Bellwether College Consortium presents at the Community College Futures Assembly every year and this year celebrated its 30th Anniversary. The consortium charges itself with addressing critical issues facing community colleges throughout the United States and its territories. Each year many applicants submit their most successful programs for consideration for one of three awards in the categories of Workforce Development, Planning, Governance and Finance, and Instructional Programs and Services. While many enter, only 10 in each category are awarded the distinction of Finalist and invited to present at the Assembly where they are judged by peer institutions.

Annually, the Assembly is held in San Antonio where 30 finalists present their programs, including a critical issue, how it was solved, and the success data used for measurement and program optimization via an in-depth digital binder, an open dialogue booth, and a formal presentation with audience Q&A.

“Lone Star College-Online was immeasurably proud to present the hard work and success of not only those who built this campus, but those who attend and make doing what we do a worthy endeavor every day,” said Keshvala. “We knew we had something special to submit and achieving the distinction of Bellwether Finalist belongs to all of us.”
