LSC & TIEC
Lone Star College has partnered with the Texas International Education Consortium to build international partnerships.

Lone Star College has partnered with the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) to help build international partnerships and a global network to bring opportunities to Texas and share Texas expertise around the world.

“Lone Star College is excited to be one of Texas International Education Consortium’s first two-year institutions,” said Perzen Akolawala, LSC executive director, International Programs. “We look forward to advancing international education and collaboration, empowering students and institutions alike on a global scale.”

The TIEC mission is that higher education internationalization is imperative in improving social, economic and environmental sustainability across the globe. They serve as effective conduits for Texas higher education internationalization on the global stage and as a global gateway to Texas higher education partnership and collaboration.

“Texas International Education Consortium has never before included two-year institutions, so this is big, “shared TIEC on LinkedIn. “Our expansion serves to bolster member diversity and allow TIEC to increase our expertise on global workforce development, reskilling and upskilling.”

TIEC member institutions include Texas A&M University System, Texas State University System, Texas Tech University System, Texas Women’s University, University of Houston System, University of North Texas System, The University of Texas System, private, affiliate universities and two additional two-year schools.

In addition to taking part in this consortium, LSC welcomed more than 2,900 international students from over 100 countries in fall 2023.

“Lone Star College continues to demonstrate it is a global player in higher education,” said Akolawala.
