Lone Star College named Chris Williams as its chief information officer. Williams will be responsible for leading the Office of Technology Services, ensuring that its operations reflect the college’s strategic goals. Williams will begin her duties Jan. 4, 2024.

“We are excited to have Chris join the Lone Star College team,” said Bridgett Johnson, MBA, LSC executive vice chancellor, Operations. “Her experience in cybersecurity, identity and access management, and corporate application portfolios will be a big benefit to the college.”

Williams previously served as Rice University’s chief digital transformation officer and associate vice president for Enterprise Systems. Her role included defining key strategies in various IT emerging technologies in support of the university’s mission, leading strategic investment projects in process automation and aligning technological solutions to organizational effectiveness.

“I am delighted to be a part of Lone Star College and look forward to providing the necessary resources to help our students be successful,” said Williams. “With the growing importance of online communications, I am committed to ensuring Lone Star College remains at the forefront of delivering a safe and secure online experience.”

Williams holds a master’s in business administration with a specialty in Cybersecurity from the University of Texas, a bachelor’s degree in information technology, and a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute. Before joining Rice University, Williams served as the Information Technology administrative director at the Harris Health System for over 15 years.
