LSC-North Harris and Resideo Partnership Provides Innovative Technology and Training for the Next Generation of Home Service Professionals

LSC-North Harris and Resideo come together for ribbon cutting.

Lone Star College-North Harris celebrated a new addition to its Construction Trades and Career and Applied Technology division by hosting a ribbon cutting in honor of the donation made by Resideo Technologies, the global provider of Honeywell Home smart thermostats and First Alert solutions that provide home comfort, life safety, and security to over 150 million homes. Resideo donated over $14,500 in products and cutting-edge equipment to enhance LSC-North Harris’ already robust HVAC and Electrical programs. The equipment includes HVAC zoning systems, a humidifier, a dehumidifier, thermostats, smart switches, and outlets.

“The next generation of HVAC technicians requires the knowledge and experience of working with advanced controls and smart systems,” said Osvaldo Caballero, Director of Construction Technologies at LSC-North Harris. “At LSC-North Harris, we aim to ensure all our students are ready to join the workforce and achieve true student success by obtaining high-skill, in-demand careers.”

Through an introduction facilitated by Building Talent Foundation, a non-profit that partners with equipment manufacturers, colleges, and industry employers to place job seekers into meaningful trades careers, LSC-North Harris is the first community college in Texas selected for the Resideo Academy Community Partnership Program. This collaboration will prepare the next generation of HVAC technicians and Security professionals for the ever-changing Construction trades industry by allowing students to train on state-of-the-art smart HVAC controls, Indoor Air Quality and Security solutions.

“It is such a distinct honor to be the first community college in Texas selected by Resideo for this partnership,” said Dr. Bennie Lambert, President of Lone Star College-North Harris. “Their generous donation to LSC-North Harris is going to benefit our students by preparing them for an industry that is constantly changing as computers and smart devices are quickly becoming the new standard.”

“This donation is more than just equipment. It is the gateway that allows the instructors and faculty at Lone Star College to help develop the skills for current and future students entering these industries,” said Jamie Quanrud, Product Solutions Training Offering Leader at Resideo. Several guests were in attendance including Dr. Lambert, members of his cabinet, the LSC Foundation, Resideo representatives, Building Talent Foundation CEO Branka Minic, and students on Thursday, Nov. 9. at LSC-North Harris in the Construction Technologies and Career and Applied Technology building.
