In this opera by American composer Gian Carlo Menotti, Madame Flora, with the help of her daughter Monica and mute servant Toby, tries to cheat clients through fraudulent séances. When unexplainable occurrences happen and she begins to hear voices, she unravels into a state of utter fear and is driven to insanity.
