LSCFocus is a leader-led process designed to create a culture where everyone plays a role in achieving Lone Star College's organizational goals. Our culture is made up of the norms and behaviors we have prioritized as a college community. Our LSCFocus cultural beliefs are the kind of thinking and behavior we need even more of to accomplish our goals at Lone Star College.
Cultural Beliefs
The LSCFocus Steering Committee, with representatives from each college location, helps champion our culture across the college. They coach our culture daily and work with our team to engage each employee in demonstrating our cultural beliefs. The six cultural beliefs were created by the work of over 100 employees in Fall 2018 to focus our efforts towards the results we collectively desire to achieve. Lone Star College first began our intentional culture work in September of 2015. Culture helps us identify and focus on the behavior most needed to achieve our results. The refreshed Lone Star College cultural beliefs are:

Lone Star College Goals
The LSCFocus cultural beliefs are designed to create a culture in support of Lone Star College's Goals.
Financial Responsibility & Accountability
Implement Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting Processes, and technology solutions that enable data-driven decision-making and advances the College's Strategic Plan, while attaining its Financial Performance Targets.
Academic Program Quality & Student Success
Increase first-time-in-college FALL-TO-FALL retention rates by 5% by 2027, followed by 5% incremental increases each additional three years.
Leadership & Culture
Create a resource template for supervisors to utilize in the implementation of flexible work options and improve employee perceptions on communication (1) between departments and other areas of Lone Star College and (2) between campuses and System Office.
Student Services: Advising
Decrease the time advisors spend on informational exchanges to enable advisors to increase time spent on developing meaningful connections with students providing timely intervention, support, and credential completion guidance.
Workforce Program Quality & Partnerships
Use baseline data to implement benchmarks for measuring entry-level salary and employment rate of completers for each Lone Star College credential of value.
Data Capture & Visualization
Build data tools that track and provide insight on strategic goals to support institutional planning.
Student Services: Financial Aid
Reduce average time to process Satisfactory Academic Progress to 10 - 14 days by June 2024.
