LSC-Kingwood Return to Campus Protocols

Dear Student:

On behalf of the faculty and staff at LSC-Kingwood, we want to welcome you to the fall semester! We realize this has been a difficult and challenging time amid the COVID-19 crisis, but we want you to know that your safety is our top priority. Rest assured, we have been working behind the scenes to ensure that your experience at our campus will be safe as we follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocols. As you enter our buildings, please be aware of signage that will serve as reminders regarding the importance of these safety protocols and guidelines.

This correspondence serves as a guide as you prepare for your first day on campus. Failure to follow these guidelines will impact your ability to attend classes.

Please review and adhere to the following six steps:

  1. All students must park in Lots A or C located on Kingwood Drive and Sorters-McClelland Road, respectively. (See map below illustrating buildings and parking lots).  We ask that you not arrive on campus more than 30 minutes before the start of class. (see illustration #1).
  2. Upon arrival, you will be required to pick up Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—otherwise known as a MASK! Please note that all students must wear a face mask (you are permitted to wear your own). Additionally, failure to wear a mask is a violation of the Code of Student Conduct. Please be safe and wear a mask! Other PPE equipment, such as gloves, is not mandatory.
  3. You will also be required to complete a health declaration form. This must be completed on the day of your arrival and NOT the day before! A new health declaration form will be required every day you attend class. To expedite your entry to the CLA and SCC buildings, we encourage you to use your electronic device to access these forms (see links below) to obtain the health declaration form upon arrival. Posters containing the QR code will be posted at the main entrances of the CLA and SCC buildings. Simply scan the following QR code, and it will take you directly to the forms. You can also access both forms on the LSC-Kingwood website:
  1. Before entering the CLA and SCC buildings each day, you will be required to undergo a health screening. You will not be allowed inside if your temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees (see illustration #2). Please note that this daily check-in process is MANDATORY. Once you are cleared, we will ask you to go to your assigned classroom immediately. For your safety, no lingering/loitering on campus will be permitted before or after class. Classrooms have been rearranged to allow for proper social distancing. Please do not sit at any location that has a blue ‘X’ as this will help create proper distance between classmates.
  2. Student seating will be available should you need to take a seat between classes or wait for a ride. These seats are only available inside the SCC and outside of this building.
  3. All LSC-Kingwood buildings will have main entrance/exit points. Please familiarize yourselves with these entrance/exit points by clicking the following link to these buildings: https://www.lonestar.edu/entry-exit-locations. It is extremely important that you follow these protocols.

For your safety, there will be no vending or other food/beverage services available on campus. This also includes all water fountains. In the event of COVID-19 exposure and/or if symptoms occur while on campus, we will follow CDC guidelines and ask that you self-isolate. You must also self-report to LSC-ReportVirus@LoneStar.edu. Please be aware that this may impact classroom instruction.

Finally, we have provided a COVID-19 fact sheet with pertinent information and testing centers (see illustration #3).
