We are registering students for dual credit via email or by using our Registration Request Form (located to the right of this page). All emailed documents must be sent from student’s Lone Star email account in order to be processed for registration. We ask for your patience and understanding, as this process will generate an increase in the volume of electronic requests received for registration.

Homeschool Dual Credit Checklist

**All documents must be submitted from student's LSC email or use our Registration Request Form.

1. Attend Homeschool Information Session
2. Complete LSC Admissions Application through ApplyTexas

    • Student's Lone Star 7-digit ID number will be assigned upon completion of the ApplyTexas admissions application (generally within 24 to 48 hrs.).
    • Student's Lone Star email address (Get Lone Star College Student Email Address) will be created upon completion of the ApplyTexas admissions application.

3. Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination: Complete Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Requirements
4.  Testing: 
       Option 1:
See other qualifying assessment scores for Dual Credit

  • To submit other qualifying assessments scores
  • Request to send official score report to Lone Star College via College Board or ACT (may take up to two weeks) or
  • PSAT/NMSQT, ACT or SAT scores may be submitted through student's Lone Star email address.

Option 2: Placement Testing with the Texas Success Initiative (TSIA2)

*Please note: The initial test fee is waived for high school/homeschool students taking the TSIA2 for Dual Credit enrollment.  Retesting costs: $10 for ELAR multiple choice only or Essay only if retesting; $10 for Math only.
**Photo ID will be required.

5. Placement: Confirm College-Level Placement for Dual Credit Eligibility
*If ineligible in Reading and Writing and/or Math, you will receive instructions by email on how to retest.
**Please note: Developmental courses are ineligible for dual credit.

6. Prepare & Submit documents for upcoming semester
*Please email typed document (from student's myLoneStar.edu email account).

  • homeschool transcript must be submitted at the time of registration for course(s) each semester.
  • Transcript must include: (view example document)
    • REQUIRED Homeschool Transcript Template
      • Student's name
      • Student's date of birth.
      • Homeschool name.
      • Expected graduation date.
      • Transcript print date.
      • Principal's signatures.
      • Courses completed thus far arranged by academic year, grade level, semester, and grades.
  • graduation plan of study must be submitted at the time of registration for course(s) each semester.
  • Graduation Plan must include: (view example document)
    • Homeschool Graduation Plan Template 
      • Student's name.
      • Homeschool name.
      • Graduation plan print date.
      • Principal's signature.
      • Courses left to complete to graduate high school arranged by academic year, grade level, semester, and expected date of graduation.

7.  Registering & Dropping Classes  

  • Dual Credit Students:
    • Are not Able to Self-Register!
    • Are not Able to Self-Drop from Classes!
      • All Dual Credit Enrollment, Schedule Changes and Drops, will be processed by the Dual Credit Department.

**When completing your Course Approval Form, list your 1st option, 2nd option, and 3rd option for each class.

8.  Uploading Required Documentation

  • Upload all necessary homeschool registration documents using our ONLINE REGISTRATION REQUEST FORM.  Please allow 24 to 48 hours to process your homeschool submission request.

9.  Dropping Classes - Complete Dual Credit Drop Form and submit to Homeschool DC Department

10.  Pay your Tuition

11.  Textbooks

  • Purchase textbooks and other course materials from the campus bookstore in new, used, rental, and e-book formats.

Testing Information

NEW OR CURRENT DUAL CREDIT HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS

First Time Testers

To set up Testing either In-Person or Virtual, please follow the steps below:

  1. Please complete and submit the Homeschool, click here to access the form: Dual Credit Testing Request Form.
  2. Upon receipt of the completed Testing Request Form, our office will process your testing request.  We will process each request in the order that it is received.
  3. You will receive a follow up email from CF-DCHomeschool@lonestar.edu that will contain information regarding completing the PAA (Pre-Assessment Activity) and the next step in setting up your test date and time.
  4. If you do not receive follow up email from the Homeschool Dual Credit Department within 24 to 48 hrs. (business days), please call or email our office.

All Testing is available in-person by appointment ONLY, at this time the Testing Department is not taking any walk-ins for testing.   If you would like to take any placement exam remotely, you can choose to do so, we are using a 3rd party company (Examity) to proctor our virtual placement exams.  There is a $25 administration fee for each test administered through Examity.  You must have access to a webcam and microphone in order to test remotely.

Retaking the TSIA2 Test or Accuplacer

Complete the Testing Form from the link provided below:

*Please be advised there is a $25.00 service fee for Virtual Testing, plus a fee for TSIA2 or AVANT Re-Test.

  1. Complete the TSIA2/Accuplacer Re-Test Form:  https://form.jotform.com/202616403460142
    • Choose In-Person Testing or Virtual Testing:
      • Virtual Testers -- Upon completion of the Re-Test Form, you will receive an email with information to set up your Virtual Online Test Date & Time. 
      • In-Person Testers -- Upon completion of the Re-Test Form, proceed to Step 2.
  2.  In-Person Testing, you must complete the Re-Test Form (using the link above) and then schedule your appointment date and time using the link below:

Returning Homeschool Students Pre-Registration Steps

*Dual Credit Students Must Maintain a Grade of C or better in all college courses completed for dual credit. *
