LSC-CyFair PIES Student Support Program

The LSC-CyFair Proactive and Inclusive Engagement for Success (PIES) Student Support program is a Title III Grant federally funded by the U.S Department of Education. The PIES program provides support to students enrolled in the following corequisite math courses:

  • MATH 0106/MATH 0308
  • MATH 0314/MATH 1314
  • MATH 0232/MATH 1332
  • MATH 0324/MATH 1324
  • MATH 0242/MATH 1342

PIES Student Support Program

LSC-CyFair Proactive and Inclusive Engagement for Success (PIES)Students will have a Corequisite Coach who will support and connect them with the following services:

  • Academic Advising
  • Technology Education
  • Financial Literacy Information
  • Cultural/Enrichment Activities

Counseling Services

CyFair counselors are available to meet with students to help identify, discuss, and address concerns that may be interfering with students’ goals. Students often seek help for a variety of concerns including–but not limited to–stress, anxiety, depression, crisis, self-esteem, time management, and career exploration. Disability Services

The Empowerment Center

The Empowerment Center (TEC) has many different items for your needs such as shelf-stable food, toiletries, school supplies, cleaning supplies, diapers, winter coats, and career clothing. TEC is a faculty-led initiative designed to help students meet needs in their lives so they can be successful in college. Contact them here for more information.

Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center (ASC) offers tutoring, peer mentoring programs, workshops, and seminars as well as several centers and labs that are all available free as resources designed to help you succeed in your classes. Visit their website here for more information and appointment schedules.

  • PIES develops creates professional development opportunities to educate about new technology tools needed to accomplish pathway objectives such as student planning tools, scheduling software, and student academic progress warnings.
  • Advising and Early Alert reports are a collaborative effort between faculty, staff, and the students to promote academic success by connecting students to resources and increasing their motivation to succeed.
  • Advisors assist students with a variety of academic services including admissions, TSI prep session, TSI testing, advising, registration, referral of campus and community resources, course changes, transfer planning and graduation processes.
  • Enhance the Wayfinding Campaign virtually through technology such as a Map App, flyers, and an enhanced and updated website.

 

Cynthia (Cyndi) Deleon Guerrero, M.Ed.

Cyndi currently serves as the Interim Program Manager for the Title III SIP Grant at LSC-CyFair.Cynthia (Cyndi) Deleon Guerrero is an indigenous Chamorro and Refaluwasch woman of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. She and her family traveled over 7,318 miles to come to Texas in 2020 to visit her daughter and decided to stay and call Texas home.

Cyndi holds undergraduate degrees in Early Childhood Education, Liberal Arts, and Elementary Education from the Northern Marianas College (NMC) and her master’s degree in education - International Teaching from Framingham State University.

Her work experience includes over 30-years in education institutions, serving students, families, and community partners from primary, secondary, post-secondary institutions, community training institutions and working with incarcerated youth. She has many years of experience working with federal entities including the U.S. Department of Education, Department of Agriculture, Office of Insular Affairs, Department of Justice (Office of Violence Against Women [Act]), and the Department of Interior to secure funding through grants and support through technical assistance. Cyndi currently serves as the Interim Program Manager for the Title III SIP Grant at LSC-CyFair.

 

Abraham Liandro

Abraham Liandro is the Marketing Coordinator for the Title III Grant team. Abraham is the Marketing Coordinator for the Title III Grant team. Abraham attended Lone Star College for two years before transferring to University of Houston Main Campus where he graduated Cum Laude with Bachelors Degree in Communications. Abraham has a passion for travel, photography and sports. He hopes to visit every MLB stadium and country in the world.

Abraham is currently working on a campus map which will help students find their way around campus better. The map will be detailed in showing where buildings are located, where events are being held, as well as an in depth inside view to each building to give exact location of your classrooms. Once it’s rolled out and you have time to use it, please feel free to e-mail him on any suggestions to improve the functionality of the map or any additions that would make it more useful.  

 

Giselle Reyes

Giselle Reyes is the Early Alert Advisor for the Title III Grant team.Giselle Reyes is the Coordinator of Advising for the Title III grant program at LSC-CyFair. She is passionate about education and supporting students to meet their goals. As a first-generation college graduate, Giselle was faced with hurdles and challenges in her journey.

She overcame many obstacles and successfully graduated college with a bachelor’s degree in Financial Service Management and an Associates in Web Development. Her experience awoke a desire to help others succeed in their lives. Leading her into many roles supporting students and families. Some of her most recent experience has been as a College Counselor in New York city, supporting youth and adults entering college. She has also worked as an English Teacher with English Language Learners in Katy ISD.

She is ecstatic to be a part of the Lone Star family and looks forward to engaging and supporting students in their journey. During her free time Giselle enjoys spending time with her family, finding fun places to eat, and watching movies. In addition, she loves traveling and learning about cultures and hopes to travel the world one day.
