What are the prerequisites?
The program itself has no specific course prerequisites. However, all students must complete placement testing to evaluate if the student is on-level for college coursework. This placement testing information can be found here. Sometimes low scores will require remedial coursework. That remedial coursework must be completed prior to applying to the program. Each course has specific prerequisites and can be found in the course catalogue.
I have taken BIOL 2401 and/or other sciences. Will I need to retake them?
All biology courses must be taken within 5 years of program admission of the fall start. No exceptions. If BIOL 2401 and 2402 were taken more than 5 years ago, applicant must show proof of BIOL 2404 to get credit for BIOL 2401 and 2402. If BIOL 2420 or BIOL 2421 were taken more than 5 years ago, applicant must retake BIOL 2420 or BIOL 2421. BIOL 2401 must be taken prior to SRGT 1541. You cannot take BIOL 2401 or 2402 courses in the second year of the program. ALL coursework MUST be completed by May of the graduating year.
How will I know if my courses will transfer?
Be sure to send your official transcripts to Lone Star College to have them analyzed for course comparisons. Once they have been analyzed you may login to your MyLonestar account to see which courses transferred or you can contact an advisor.
When does the program start?
The program starts at the beginning of the fall semester each year.
Are your program classes available in the evening or online?
There are no evening or online courses offered in the SRGT curriculum at this time. Non-SRGT courses may be offered online or in hybrid fashion.
What are the days and times for the classes?
Days and times for classes vary from semester to semester. Typically, lectures for SRGT courses are held Mondays from 9-2 and lab days occur on the other days of the week (8-4) in the first semester. There is some flexibility in choosing a lab day to accommodate other coursework. Clinical days are either one or two days per week beginning in the second semester.
If I have taken all of the required and suggested courses can I graduate early?
The course sequencing of the SRGT courses is designed to build on one another. The non-SRGT coursework may be transferred in or taken at your convenience and can lessen the load of a student within a particular semester, but it will not shorten the duration of time in the program. Please see requirements for sciences and BIOL 2401.
How long is the program?
The program is 5 semesters in length which includes 2 fall semesters, 2 spring semesters and a summer semester in between.
Do I need to have my immunizations and CPR (BLS) completed when I apply?
Please see the preadmission and post admission requirements. The CPR must be American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals. This needs to be completed before any clinical externship begins and must be current throughout the program. No exceptions. Immunizations do not need to be completed when you apply. Please note, however, that if you have not completed the Hepatitis B series, it would be wise to do so as soon as possible as it is required in this, and many other programs, and takes several months to complete.
To make the process easier, an account with CastleBranch.com must be setup (fee applies) and a Criminal Background Check (fee applies) completed as part of the application. This account will allow you to track and upload the documents for reference. This is a secure management system.
When is the next Information Session?
Information session dates will be noted on the program web page once scheduled.
Do I need to see an advisor at the Tomball Campus?

You may also reach out to Ashley.N.Esmair@lonestar.edu - Ashley is a workforce advisor who specializes in the health occupation programs at LSC-Tomball.
