Chief Strategist
Sarah Palacios-Wilhelm, MSLIS, M.Ed
With over 19 years of higher education experience, Sarah is committed to empowering students, faculty, and staff to achieve their goals. As Chief Strategist, she leads the Office of Strategy Management (OSM), which includes the Marketing & Communications, Special Events, and the Center for Learning and Engagement. Together, the OSM team seeks to support the development of achievable goals, actionable plans, and the implementation of innovative programs and campus-wide initiatives that empower the campus community to achieve our collective vision and fulfill our mission.
Sarah began her career in higher education as a Reference and Instruction Librarian at The George Washington University (GWU) and worked at Rice University’s Fondren Library before joining Lone Star College-Montgomery as a Reference Librarian in 2012. In 2015, she assumed the role of Dean of Academic Affairs. As the first person to serve in this role at Lone Star College-Montgomery, she established the Academic Excellence (ACE) Division to provide student-focused services and support excellence in teaching. She assumed the Chief Strategist role in 2024.
Sarah holds a master’s degree in education from GWU, a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Illinois, and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from GWU. Currently, she is completing her Doctorate in Education with a focus on applied learning sciences through the University of Miami.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Leads the development of long-term strategic plans, setting priorities, and aligning resources to achieve institutional goals.
- Responsible for oversight of the campus marketing, public relations, and communications strategies, and supporting the professional growth of faculty and staff through training programs and leadership development initiatives.
