SECTION I: Public Posting Requirement
As a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) participant, this webpage contains the information required by Lone Star College (LSC) to post in a format and location easily accessible to the public as required.
Statement: LSC has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under HEERF programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. HEERF I Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES)
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF I) CARES Act was passed by Congress on March 27, 2020. This bill allotted $2.2 trillion to provide fast and direct economic aid to the American people negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This also included CARES Act Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) program. Of that money, approximately $14 billion was given to the Office of Postsecondary Education as the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, or HEERF. LSC received a total of $30,730,677 from HEERF I (CARES).

HEERF II Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA)
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II), authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260, was signed into law on December 27, 2020. This also included CRRSAA Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) program. In total, the CRRSAA authorizes $81.88 billion in support for education, in addition to the $30.75 billion expeditiously provided last spring through the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Public Law 116-136. LSC received a total of $66,775,569 from HEERF II (CRRSAA).

HEERF III American Rescue Plan (ARP)
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III), authorized by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), Public Law 117-2, signed into law on March 11, 2021, providing $39.6 billion in support to institutions of higher education to serve students and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. This also included ARP Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) program. Emergency funds available to institutions and their students under all emergency funds total $76.2 billion. LSC received a total of $118,785,511 from HEERF III (ARP).

LSC is using HEERF I, II & III funding to provide emergency financial aid grants to LSC students to help with any component of the student's cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or childcare.
