Yes
The courses are already available on your academic plan. You will be able to register for the day and time that classes are available and best fit with your schedule for the entire academic year.
You will be able to register for the schedule of an entire year of classes. You will be able to make schedule changes up to the day before the class you registered for starts.
Yes, you may change your schedule up to the day prior to class starting.
Registration for an entire year will be available starting in April 2025 (Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters).
Yes, if you are taking a course in the fall 2025 that’s a prerequisite for a future term, you will be allowed to register in the subsequent course.
Syllabi will be available per semester no later than the 7th day of class. However, you can search and view an instructor’s past syllabus to get some insight on the course you might be taking.
Yes as long as there is not a change in the instructor’s textbook which could happen. OR: The textbook requirements can be viewed when the bookstore opens prior to each semester.
Yes. Student Services staff are available at every campus to assist students with planning and registering for classes.
No, the schedule will be provided through your MyLoneStar in the Manage Classes tile (select Plan & Register for Courses), or at www.lonestar.edu/class as it is now.
No, it is optional, but it is the best way to ensure you take the classes that are required to complete your degree or certificate.
Every effort will be made to not cancel the class but instead get a new instructor to teach it.
The schedule is constantly monitored and additional course sections are offered as needed; however, it is always a good idea to register as early as possible in order to get your preferred course schedule.
All students are able to register at the same time. New students are encouraged to register as soon as they complete New Student Orientation.
Yes, let your advisor know. We always added classes if needed and possible.
Once registration for the full year has opened in April 2025, you may not need to meet with your advisor every semester. However, advisors are always available to help you plan the classes that you need.
You can always plan and register for your new classes in MyLoneStar anytime you change your major or area of study.
Nothing. You are welcome to take classes at any LSC location. Your home campus should be declared for the campus where you plan to take most of your classes and where your program is offered.
If you are on academic suspension, you are required to meet with an advisor before you register for your classes.
Currently at LSC, if you register before your academic standing has been updated to a suspended status, then you will not be automatically dropped from your courses.
No you will need to request certification for VA benefits each semester at Request Certification.
Financial FAQs
While you may register for the entire academic year, you will only be able to pay for the current term. Spring charges will reflect on your bill beginning in mid-October, and Summer charges will reflect on your bill beginning in early March.
No, you will only have to pay for the current-term charges. The main term due dates will remain the same as in the past: Approximately 2 weeks prior to Fall term start, approximately 9 days before Spring and Summer term start.
No, you will only be dropped from the courses which remain unpaid for the current term.
We review your eligibility for financial aid for all terms for which you are enrolled. We award and pay financial aid on a semester basis, and this does not change with the new enrollment option. Summer financial aid will continue to be processed separately from the fall and spring terms.
Employee FAQs
Faculty will be able to more easily plan ahead for their overloads and releases.
For faculty and staff, Academic Affairs can hold a workshop and tips. For students, I would have to rely on student support services.
Students are able to register for courses that have prerequisites as long as they are currently enrolled in the prerequisite course.
There is functionality in iStar to mass drop students who do not successfully pass their course prerequisites; however, there would need to be an institutional policy created in order to mandate a drop of that nature as currently students are not removed from classes if they register for the course prior to demonstrating they have not met the prerequisite requirement.
Fall, spring and summer schedules need to be completed 2 weeks prior to registration opening for the fall. Schedule changes will be processed as they are currently.
Adoptions for the entire academic year will be due on April 1st. However, there will be a review period prior to the start of each semester in case there are any updates that need to be made.
