What is College-By-Design?

College-By-Design is a pilot program for students who want to earn a transfer degree in Business. The targeted audience is previously enrolled students who started college but did not earn a degree or current college students who need a flexible schedule on a full-time or part-time basis. CBD will be available at LSC-Kingwood (main campus) and LSC-Atascocita Center.

How does College-By-Design work?

Students will work with an academic advisor to map out their program. They will have the opportunity to choose the modality (online, in-person, or hybrid) and term session (fall, spring, summer, mini-terms, etc.) that works best with their schedules. All required courses are guaranteed to be available in the mode and term that the individual requests.

What degree/certificate can I earn through College-By-Design?

Upon successful completion, students will earn an Associate of Arts degree with a Field of Study Transfer Curriculum for Business (AA, FMGT degree).

What requirements are needed to enroll in College-By-Design?

You must be either a currently enrolled student or a former student majoring in a transfer Business degree during the pilot phase.

When will College-By-Design begin?

CBD will begin in fall 2021.

How long is the College-By-Design program?

This is a two-year program, but students may take longer if needed.

What resources are available for students enrolled in College-By-Design?

Students will be identified and surveyed to determine what problems might exist for them in their current schedule as they attempt to complete the program. Based on their specific challenge(s), an academic advisor will provide them with campus resources and support mechanisms.
