Core courses are designed primarily for students who desire to transfer to a four-year college/university. The core courses are essentially the first and second year offerings appropriate for the first two years of many baccalaureate degree programs. Students who successfully complete the degree requirements of the programs of study will be eligible to receive the associate of arts degree or the associate of science degree from Lone Star College.

A course cannot count toward more than one requirement of the degree with the exception of the multicultural requirement.
