Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS)
TRS is a defined benefit plan in which the investment risks are absorbed by the state of Texas. Member contributions are part of a large trust fund managed by fund managers who make investment decisions on behalf of the plan.
TRS provides retirement benefits based on length of service and salary level. Rights to benefits are vested upon completion of five years of creditable service. All full-time employees are eligible to contribute to TRS.
