Kendra Johnson

LSC-Montgomery Faculty

Kendra was born in New Jersey and has lived in four countries. After graduating from Boston University, she began a career in print journalism. She later transitioned to education and joined Lone Star College as an ESOL instructor in 2017. She is interim department chair for ESOL and foreign languages, co-chair of the Montgomery campus diversity committee, and co-coordinator for her church's children's ministry.

“Throughout the year, I often reflect on how grateful I am for trailblazers who made it possible for me, as a black woman, to have the job I have, live where I live, and shop where I want without fear or hardship. Some of these people include famous historical figures, but they also include my parents, aunts, and uncles. I look forward to Black History Month as a time when we as a nation can grow in our awareness and appreciation of the many and varied contributions of black people from the past and the present.”
