Dr. Jerry Wallace

"Dr. Jerry Wallace currently serves full time as the Dean of Student Services at Lone Star College-Montgomery where he is responsible for creating opportunities for student enrollment, academic advising, retention efforts, supporting graduate programs and community partnerships. Dr. Wallace coordinates outreach efforts to development strategic partnerships with external partners to support career development for student. Additionally, he has supported faculty in the areas of criminal justice, teacher education and social work, serves a dissertation chair and faculty at the University of St. Thomas in teaching social justice principles and global leadership. Dr. Wallace is the co-founder of the Men of Distinction Program at Lone Star College, the Men of L.E.G.A.C.I. and Call Me MISTER collegiate student success programs at the University of Houston-Downtown, the first in the State of Texas that creates opportunities for male students of color to become teachers. Dr. Wallace is the co-founder of the Greater Houston Area Men of Color Collegiate Symposium which hosts more than 500 students and professionals each year. He has partnered with My Brother’s Keeper, Positive Black Male, the Ascending To Men Project (HISD), Houston Community College (Men of Honor) and others in an effort to dispel the school-to-prison pipeline.
He was an inaugural graduate fellow of the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE), a fellow of the Leadership and Mentoring Institute for the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education (AABHE) and a fellow for Leadership ISD – Harris County. Dr. Wallace is a member of the Education and Mentoring Committees for the 100 Black Men of Houston-Metro Chapter, a Board Member for the Lamar University Alumni Association and also serves as the Director of Research for the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA).
Originally from Huntsville, TX - having graduated from Oak Ridge HS in Conroe he is a first-generation college graduate initially attending Lone Star College and Grambling State University before completing his studies at Lamar University. As a college student he was active in several student organizations and was crowned Homecoming King his senior year. Dr. Wallace earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (Ed.D), Master of Education in Supervision (M.Ed) and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design (BFA) from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX as well as a certification in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY)."
