The Center for the Healing of Racism celebrates Asian American Pacific Islander month. Join us for a screening of the Emmy-nominated film: A village called Versailles. In a New Orleans neighborhood called Versailles, a tight-knit group of Vietnamese Americans rebuild after Katrina, only to have their homes threatened by a new toxic landfill. A village called Versailles is the empowering story of how the Versailles people turn a devastating disaster into a catalyst for change. Participate in Safe Zone training to develop awareness and deepen your understanding of the issues faced by LGBTQ+ students. Attendees will leave with a deeper familiarity and comfort with vocabulary, inclusive practices, and practical solutions for supporting LGBTQ+ students. Join us in learning ways to make LSC-Kingwood a safer and more inclusive space.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to become Safe Zone Certified after the conclusion of the training and will then receive a window cling identifying their workspace as a place where all people can feel safe, welcome, and included.

Women's History Month Event: The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at LSC - Kingwood presents Women Thriving in Male Dominated Job Roles on Wednesday, March 22nd from 12 - 1pm in SCC108. . Students and professionals are invited to learn about career opportunities in high demand. Panel discussion moderated by Djuana Lamb-Morrison, Diversity Manager. Snacks will be served. The Lone Star College of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Student Services Office present a Black History Month event on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:30 pm in SCC 108. Based on the true story, the movie Till will be shown and refreshments will be served. ID will be required. LSC students, faculty, and staff given priority entrance. This film screening is optional. Till is rated PG-13 due to the racist content, graphic imagery, and racial slurs. Torture and violence are heard, but it is not depicted on screen. Viewer discretion is strongly advised. Join us for a Coming Out Day dialogue. "Live Authentically" on October 18, 2022 from 12:30 - 1:30 pm in the Teaching Theatre (CLA 112). National Coming Out Day is an annual awareness day that supports and celebrates the "coming out" experience and the wider LGBTQIA+ community and their allies. One of LSC-Kingwood's Coming Out Day celebrations will be held on October 18, 2022 and will feature LSC-Kingwood community members sharing their personal experiences.
