Core Curriculum Application: MATH 1316 Trigonometry

Proposed Core Category

Component Area Option (CAO) A  [90]
The Mathematics Curriculum Team representative, Amy Hoherz, has submitted a Core course proposal to add MATH 1316 to the LSC Core in the Component Area Option (CAO) A [90] area.

Application Documents

Course Description

Trigonometric functions and their applications, solutions of right and oblique triangles, trigonometric identities and equations, inverse trigonometric functions, graphs of the trigonometric functions, vectors and polar coordinates.

Prerequisites

MATH 1314 - College Algebra (3)  OR placement by testing; College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Compute the values of trigonometric functions for key angles in all quadrants of the unit circle measured in both degrees and radians.
  2. Compute values of the six basic inverse trigonometric functions.
  3. Graph trigonometric functions and their transformations.
  4. Prove trigonometric identities.
  5. Solve trigonometric equations.
  6. Solve right and oblique triangles.
  7. Use the concepts of trigonometry to solve applications.
  8. Compute operations of vectors.
