Application Documents

Course Description

In-depth study and applications of polynomial, rational, radical, absolute value, piecewise- defined, exponential and logarithmic functions, equations, inequalities, graphing skills and systems of equations using matrices. Additional topics such as sequences, series, probability, conics, and inverses may be included.

Prerequisites

MATH 0310 - Intermediate Algebra (3) or placement by testing or concurrent enrollment in MATH 0314 - NCBO for College Algebra.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate and apply knowledge of properties of functions, including domain and range, operations, compositions, inverses and piecewise defined functions.
  2. Recognize, graph and apply polynomial, rational, radical, exponential, logarithmic and absolute value functions and solve related equations.
  3. Apply graphing techniques.
  4. Evaluate all roots of higher degree polynomial and rational functions.
  5. Recognize, solve and apply systems of linear equations using matrices.
  6. Solve other types of inequalities such as absolute value, polynomial, and rational inequalities.
