We help you accomplish your goal of becoming an educator with the following tools and techniques:
Teaching Lab
Our state-of-the-art teaching lab is the only one you will find in the LSC system. Our teaching lab is equipped with flexible seating that facilitates collaboration and communication and allows students to experiment with different seating arrangements appropriate to the task. The lab is equipped with a set of tablets to incorporate the use of technology in the teaching and learning process and a class set of whiteboards to encourage brainstorming, interactions, and problem-solving. This lab is set-up to encourage the development of 21st century skills that are so important to teachers and learners alike.
Authentic Experiences
Students of all ages learn best when presented with authentic opportunities to apply knowledge. At LSC-Tomball, AAT students can practice their developing teaching skills by planning and delivering lessons to students with cognitive challenges in the lifePATH® program, and to 3 and 4-year old students through our partnership with the HEB Read 3 Program. Both experiences are only available at LSC-Tomball.
In addition to hands-on teaching experience, students can visit an Assistive Technology Lab where they learn about tools available to help meet the unique needs of students with various special needs.
Recently, AAT faculty were awarded a grant for a Dyslexia Simulation Kit to help future educators experience the challenges that students with dyslexia encounter daily. This is one of many simulations LSC-Tomball AAT faculty use to facilitate the development of empathy and a respect for diversity in the classroom.
Highly Qualified Faculty
AAT professors at LSC-Tomball have over 50 years of experience in education in both public and private school settings, as well as traditional, Montessori, and Christian programs. Check out our faculty page here!
Professional Learning Communities
The Future Teachers Club at LSC-Tomball allows students to connect with others interested in the same career. Through involvement with FTC, students can attend conferences where they learn alongside certified teachers, participate in community service opportunities such as book drives, clothing drives, and school supply drives, and develop leadership and networking skills.
